Awards Program

Technical Criteria

  1. A good Webmaster that uses "Frames" would have a "No Frames" option.
  2. A considerate Webmaster would not have missing graphics (those red "X’s).
  3. A responsible Webmaster would not have "Comet Cursor" or pop up ads present.
  4. A responsible Webmaster would use alt tags on all images.
  5. A thoughtful Webmaster would practice good navigation. A visitor would never have to use the back button. A good Webmaster would be thoughtful in placing top of page buttons on long pages (3 or more scrolls) or next page linking on pages of similar content. This avoids sending your visitor back to the top of the page when all they want to do is move to the next page of similar content.
  6. A considerate Webmaster will optimize their graphics to insure that loading times are no longer than 60 seconds AT 56K connection speed.
  7. A responsible Webmaster that has “Flash" presentations or music would have a skip over option or method to turn off the music.
  8. A responsible Webmaster will have no broken internal links. A good Webmaster will have no more than three broken external links. I realize there may be links to other sites and you do not control these, but a considerate Webmaster would check their links frequently. Above all they would be courteous to their visitors and if a listed award sites link is not working, the site “is no longer” or the award is retired, you may state it besides the listing; your visitor should not click on a dead link. Not sure if you have broken links? I have provided a link to check for broken links (W3C Link Validator ) and a link to check coding errors, key word relevance, etc. ( WDG HTML Validator)
