Self Test

In an effort to help you attain a better score please take advantage of the Self Test provided here, the ICRA label tester on the Application page, the WDG HTML Validator and the WDG Link Validator on the Qualifications Criteria page. It is not our desire to disqualify any applicant, if you are unsure or have a concern please e-mail me.

• Are there under construction signs or text stating under construction or coming soon?
• Do I have to login or join to view your site? (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Do you use proper alt tags on all graphics including height and width?
• Do you have a 'top of page' link for longer pages on your site? (One per 3 scrolls maximum.)
• Are you the site owner, designer or webmaster/web mistress? You must be in order to be eligible for my awards.
• Do you have a COPPA statement? (US Based sites) (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Do you collect personal information, but have no Privacy Statement? (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Is your site 'family friendly'? Does it display any one of the many rating badges? Does it have an ICRA tag and PIC code on every page? (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Is this strictly a Commercial site? Commercial sites usually offer items or services for a price. This includes sites asking for donations in any form.
• Do you have at least 10 pages of content? Not just a bunch of links to other sites or just graphics/images.
• Do you have a separate awards page or pages on which to display your awards that you have won?
• Is your site written in English? If I can't read it...I can't evaluate it. (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• If you display content that you do not own have you shown permission or given credit to the author?
• Do you have more than three broken links or three broken images?
• Do you link to another site for graphics or content? (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Do you have anything flash, graphic's etc. that will cause my computer to freeze or crash?
• Awards Programs must NOT require a Guestbook Signature to win awards. (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Does your site offer awards? Do you limit awards to only pages like your own? A considerate award givers program would be both realistic and fair.
• Does your site promote, display or encourage illegal or immoral activities, sex, violence, nudity, offensive material or topics, any form of hatred, discrimination, demeaning or cruelty to people or animals, the practice, symbolism, or promotion of, Witchcraft, Voodoo, Satanism, Occult, Death, Suicide or links to such sites? Does your site contain language, photos or symbols that may be offensive to any individual or group? A responsible Webmaster's site would not offend anyone. (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Does your site contain too many animated images per page?
• Can your site be easily read?
• Do you have a horizontal scrollbar at a screen resolution of 800x600 or 1024x768? (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• If your site is designed for a certain browser or resolution, you should have a notice on your first page.
• Flash graphics are nice, but do you have a method to skip over?
• If you have music do you offer an option to turn it off?
• Do you have comet cursors present or pop up ads?
• Do you have obvious Copyright Violations? (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Do you have Awards displayed that you are not entitled to display? (DISQUALIFICATION ITEM)
• Did you enter the secret word on your application so that I know you have read and understand the rules and criteria?
• The Thomas Sims Graves Awards reserves the right to refuse a review or award of any site that in our opinion is inappropriate.
