Graves Tavern Stand 6 miles from Lexington on the turnpike road

Built in 1834 by Thomas Sims Graves, A Tavern Stand was an upscale hotel for travelers no animals were allowed except horses and stages. All owners were required to have a tavern license. The prices for food and lodging were set by a board that granted the license.
